View from the Other Cockpit: Cleveland Browns

Olivia Peebles

The Jets are coming off a poor start to the season after a miserable defeat against the Ravens in Week 1. Many questions have been asked towards the team, specifically towards the offence and special teams units. Whilst it may look like the all too familiar “Same Old Jets”, Gang Green will be looking to right those wrongs against a more than solid Cleveland Browns side, who edged a close battle with the Carolina Panthers last week.

We spoke to the fantastic @UK_Browns about all things Cleveland, featuring Aston Villa, clutch kickers and some Sauce!

The Browns beat Baker Mayfield’s Carolina Panthers in Week 1

Hi! How did you become a Browns fan?

Goes back to when Randy Lerner took over Aston Villa, as a Villa fan as well, thought it was a good moment to start watching the NFL and the Browns, the fandom just kept growing.

How did you feel about the Browns off-season? Free Agency? Draft? What was/is the mood of Browns fans going into the season?

I think we have probably gone backwards, at least initially in the off season, a lot focused on Watson and the surrounding drama, Amari Cooper could be a smart pick up, but the stud of the draft class may just be Cade York.

Rookie Cade York impressed in his first professional game

Browns went 1-0 with a win over Carolina. What were your thoughts on the game? Which players stood out for you?

A thrilling end but really a lot to be done, on that performance neither the Browns or the Panthers will go the playoffs. Myles (Garrett) as always was dominant and the one to watch.

Superstar Myles Garrett will undoubtedly be a handful on Sunday. Can the Jets contain him?

Are there any players that you expect to have a break out season this year?

In terms of breakout players, People-Jones, showed flases last year, plenty of talent and speed, and now without Landry around, a true chance to step up.

Jets had a disappointing start to the season, but how do you view them and their off-season acquisitions? Are there any players you will have an eye on.?

Without knowing every in and out off the top of my head, Sauce Gardner should end up being a solid draft pick and help you from not being ripped apart in the air. 2021 showed me, with the greatest of respect, that the Jets had potentially worst secondary across the NFL. Whitehead from the Buccaneers helps in the same regard. For the Browns this week, they need to be wary of Elijah Moore, and he would be my breakout star for the Jets this year.

Prediction for the Game?

A tight one with a Browns W! Cade York to win it again at the death.
