View from the Other Cockpit: Green Bay Packers

Olivia Peebles

The Jets are full of confidence after their impressive performance against the Dolphins at home last week, and will certainly try to capitalise on that heading into Green Bay to face the Packers. Aaron Rodgers and Co are coming off a London trip in which they took a rather unexpected loss to the high flying New York Giants, and seek to rebound today against the 3-2 Jets.

We spoke to @UKPackers to see what the mood was like for those in green and gold, and how they can potentially get back to winning ways against us.

How did you become a Packers fan?

Many moons ago! I used to watch the Super Bowl and decided to get into supporting a team. So looked at the names and could understand what a Bear was, a Falcon was, but a Packer? Looked into it and instantly got drawn in by the history and the fact the team was community owned. Add that to the incredible play from the early 90s and here we are!

Can you sum up your London experience from last week and finally seeing the packers over

BUSY! We put on Watch Parties in London as well as organising events all weekend. So I personally didn’t get to the game, instead giving away my tickets. But the weekend was a wash with Green and Gold. A true home game.

Packers come off a disappointing loss to the Giants and sit at 3-2 (same as the Jets, who would have thought that) How do you feel about the season so far?

It is not vintage dominance but the offense and defense are still stacked with talent. The Special Teams has also improved massively after last place last year. We have yet to put a full game together on all 3 phases but according to the back to back MVP, it’s coming!

The Jets will certainly be cautious of MVP Aaron Rodgers today.

What players have you been impressed with this season? Have any gone under the radar? Who needs to up their game against New York?

Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are averaging 5 yards per carry. They have been unstoppable this season. Randall Cobb has also seen a resurgence and has hands of steel. On defense, Rashan Gary has continued to perform and improve. Nixon on Special Teams also has flashed some fantastic ability. Romeo Doubs at WR could be a special player also with more experience.

AJ Dillon will need to be contained if the Jets want to come away with a win

Jets and Packers have a lot of connections in recent times, how do you view the Jets and their season up until now? What players have impressed you?

Jets are trying to shake off a losing culture and Saleh is the guy to turn things around. They are a tough and gritty team that are starting to show real promise. Particularly at RB and the defense is starting to heat up as the season progresses. They put up serious points against the Dolphins and I

think teams should disregard them at their peril.

Saleh and the LaFleur siblings have a lot of history.

Prediction for the game!

The spread is 7.5+ to the Packers but I think that’s generous. The Jets will be a tough team and I expect this to be a much tighter game. Despite the Packers hosting the NY team, I predict a close contest that the Packers ultimately win but don’t cover the spread.
